The Doon School fee structure for AY 2026-27 represents one of the most significant financial commitments in Indian boarding school education. For families considering The Doon School, it helps to understand exactly what these fees include and how the first-year costs differ from later years.
The annual fee covers the complete residential, academic, and co-curricular experience at the 70-acre Chandbagh campus: tuition, boarding, meals, basic medical care, and access to the school’s full range of facilities. It does not cover personal expenditure, which is managed separately through the Imprest Advance of Rs. 50,000 per annum.
The Admission Fee of Rs. 5,00,000 for Indian families is paid once and is non-refundable. The Security Deposit of Rs. 7,00,000 is also paid once but is returned in full when a student eventually leaves the school. For first-year Indian families, this means a total outlay of approximately Rs. 26,54,000 in Year 1 for the ICSE pathway, reducing significantly from Year 2 onwards when only the annual fee and imprest apply.
NRI families pay a higher fee across all components, with both the Admission Fee and Security Deposit set at Rs. 9,08,750 each — notably identical figures, unlike the tiered structure of previous years.
The Doon School also offers merit-based scholarships (DSSE) and means-tested bursaries that can cover up to 100% of fees for deserving candidates. Both are applied for separately from the standard admissions process.
The school reviews its fees annually. The figures above are based on the officially published AY 2026-27 fee schedule.
