NTSE Exam Pattern

The NTSE examination is structured into two papers: Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Both of these tests are conducted on the same day.

Mental Ability Test (MAT)

  • This part consists of 100 multiple-choice questions with four possible answer choices for each.
  • Each correct answer in MAT carries one mark.
  • To respond to these questions, students use a separate OMR sheet, following the instructions in the test booklet.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

  • The SAT has 100 multiple-choice questions, each worth one mark.
  • For each SAT question, there are four answer choices, but only one is correct.
  • SAT comprises 40 questions from Science, 40 from Social Science, and 20 from Mathematics.
  • Similar to MAT, students must answer SAT questions on a separate OMR sheet, which will be provided at the examination center following specific instructions.

Medium of Exam:

  • The NTSE tests are available in multiple languages, including Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • When applying for the exam, candidates need to specify their preferred language for the test.
  • The question booklet in the chosen language will be provided to the candidate at the exam center.
  • Importantly, once a language choice is made, no requests for a change of language will be considered.

This pattern ensures that you can take the NTSE exam in a language you are most comfortable with, making it fair and accessible to a wide range of students across India.
