What is the entrance exam for Welham Girls’ School?

Welham Girls’ School does not conduct a conventional entrance examination. What it conducts is an Aptitude/Proficiency Assessment, and the distinction matters.
The assessment is designed to evaluate a girl’s natural ability, reasoning, language skills, and intellectual potential rather than her performance on a prepared syllabus. The school does not publish a fixed paper pattern or a prescribed reading list for the assessment. It does not endorse any coaching centre that claims to prepare children for it.
Round 1 of the assessment is held in August/September at centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Dehradun, in the year preceding the one in which admission is sought. Only registered candidates are called for the assessment. Particulars are communicated directly by the school to the parents of registered students.
Shortlisted candidates then go through a Round 2 personal interaction in Dehradun. Both stages together determine whether an offer of admission is made. There is no guarantee that clearing Round 1 leads to an offer.
