Getting RMS Admission is a dream for thousands of students in India. The passion and dedication for its motherland can be seen in the heart of every Indian. This love and respect are to the extent that one is ready to sacrifice one’s life for the country. Every Indian is ready to send his child to the Armed forces to serve the motherland. There are so many examples of military officers and soldiers who fought wars and sacrificed their lives proudly.
What is that one inspiration which is there in the hearts of millions of Indians? What motivates them that they do not even care for their lives? Respect and trust of civilians. Isn’t it? They take care of the safety and security of their motherland because every Indian citizen relies on them for that. They understand the responsibility well.
So, if you have that same passion and you are ready to take on this big responsibility then, Rashtriya Military schools can be the best choice for you. The school will prepare you for your future dream. Here, we will tell you how:
At the time of establishment, Rashtriya Military schools were known as King George’s Royal Indian Military schools. They were formed to take care of the education of the sons of defense personnel. In 1952, the schools were reorganized as public schools and they opened admissions for everyone, be it the children of civilians or the military.
The schools were renamed Military Schools in 1966. The school’s motto is ‘Sheelem Param Bhushanam’ meaning, Character is the Highest Virtue.
At present, there are five Rashtriya Military Schools in India. They are located at Chail in the Shimla Hills of Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, Belgaum, and Bangalore in Karnataka.
To let you know, Rashtriya Military Schools give admission to Class 6 and class 9 only. For admission to these classes, Rashtriya Military Schools conduct Common Entrance Test. It is held in December and is an automated OMR-based admission test.

In terms of education and infrastructure, all the RMSs maintain the same criteria and quality. They do not compromise the quality of learning and overall development of their students. But, as you have to take admission in only one, then choose according to your comfort. Like, you may choose the nearest to your residence.
As per our personal choice, we will suggest you go with RMS Bangalore. It is the oldest RMS school and on top of that, most of the highest percentage of cadets are getting cleared for the written exams and SSBs.
If you are seeking to take admission to military schools, then it is obvious that you will compare RMS, RIMC, and Sainik Schools. To let you know, RMSs are residential schools that come under the direct control of military training under the ministry of defense whereas Sainik schools come under the Sainik school’s board.
There are only 5 military schools in India on the other hand, there are more than 20 Sainik schools in India. The tuition cum boarding fee in military school is very nominal whereas the fee for Sainik schools is too high.
