How is the campus environment at Rishi Valley?

The campus environment at Rishi Valley School is distinctive even by the standards of India’s leading boarding schools, and that is precisely the point. Krishnamurti chose this location deliberately. The school is situated in a remote valley near Madanapalle, Annamayya District, Andhra Pradesh, at an altitude of approximately 800 metres, surrounded by ancient granite hills and far from the noise of any city.
The valley was officially declared a Bird Preserve in July 1991 by the International Council for Bird Preservation. The campus is home to approximately 200 bird species. Extensive tree plantation over the decades has transformed what was once a barren hillside into a forested preserve.
The campus encompasses the school, the Rural Education Centre on 14 acres, a Krishnamurti Study Centre, a small hospital with a resident doctor, a dairy of approximately 60 cows, a farm, an organic vegetable garden, an herb garden, and fruit orchards.
Clean air, potable water from deep borewells, and the absence of nearby industry make the environment not just beautiful but deeply aligned with the reflective, nature-centred education Krishnamurti envisioned.
