Dehradun, August 24, 2025 – In a pioneering move to blend education with empowerment, Welham Boys’ School launched the “Roshni Ki Udaan” initiative in partnership with Aasraa Trust, supported by the Bindi Foundation. The program introduced girls from underserved communities to the fundamentals of solar technology.
The inaugural workshop, held at the GGIC Shelter Home on Rajpur Road, involved Welham Boys’ students guiding Aasraa-supported girls in assembling solar-powered lamps. The environment was characterized by curiosity, creativity, and mutual learning.
This effort extends Welham’s longstanding commitment to community outreach under the Round Square framework, which emphasizes sustainable, student-driven infrastructure projects. Such initiatives have previously included building classrooms, sanitation facilities, and clean water systems with local materials.
