The Lawrence School, Sanawar, was founded in the year 1847 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Asia. It is situated in the Kasauli Hills of Himachal Pradesh in the district of Solan. Sanawar is about a one-hour drive away from Chandigarh. The institution is among the oldest surviving residential schools belonging to the Asian subcontinent. The school is originally surrounded by forests of pine, deodar, and other coniferous trees, covering an area of 139 acres at a height of 1750 meters. The school was founded in the year 1847 by Sir Henry Lawrence and his wife, Honoria.

The school motto is “Never give In” and it inculcates among its students the confidence and grit to overcome any obstacle. Sanawar created history in May 2013 when it became the first school in the world to send a team of seven pupils to climb Mount Everest.

The Lawrence School Sanawar Campus

The school is situated amidst forests of pine, deodar, and other coniferous trees. The height of the school is 1750 meters above sea level, covering 139 acres of land. The new additions include the central dining hall. This hall caters to more than 3,000 meals daily. This indoor sports complex includes a swimming pool that is solar-heated and squash courts. Parker Hall is now the school’s learning resource center.

Archive artifacts are easily accessible in it, along with a host of other things. The name of the central teaching block is ‘Birdwood’. In the campus area, different playing grounds are available with high-quality sports equipment for the students. The Lawrence School Admission Process

Admissions to The Lawrence School have been explained as follows:

  • Application forms for admission in the school can be had until the second week of November every year.
  • The children looking to get admitted in Classes V( approximately 20 girls and 45 boys), VI (approximately 05 girls and 10 boys) and VII (approximately 10 girls and 15 boys) can apply.
  • The online Common Entrance Test for all these classes is conducted in the third week of November.
  • The entrance test is organized at Sanawar, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Kathmandu,
  • Online exams will be conducted for English, Hindi, Mathematics, and General Science subjects.
  • applications for only a limited number of admissions are considered for Classes VIII, IX, and XI on the basis of certain vacant posts.
  • There are no admissions in classes X and XII. Please note that registration for one year is not transferable for another year.

  • The forms of registration can be taken from the school office.
  • It can also be downloaded from the School website,www.sanawar.edu.in.
  • The completed registration forms should be mailed or faxed to the School.
  • The child will, however, be registered only on receipt of the required fee paid through a Demand Draft or in online payment mode.
