National Talent Search Examination is known as NTSE is short. It is a scholarship program for the students of 10th standard. It is a state and national level examination conducted by NCERT every year to select the best candidates for a scholarship to pursue their higher educations. The meritorious candidates are selected based on a two-phase screening test. The students who qualify for both state and national level exams will be eligible for NTSE scholarship 2021 throughout their education period.

Important Date- NTSE 2021

The applications have been submitted for the NTSE examination in October 2020. The stage I examination has been completed in December 2020for all the states and union territories. Now the students are waiting for the result declaration of the Stage I examination and the examination to be held for the Stage II exam. Who is eligible to apply for NTSE 2021?

There are certain eligibility criteria to apply for NTSE. The students who are interested to apply for NTSE have to fulfill these eligibilities. So, you can check the eligibility criteria for NTSE 2021 given below.

  • The students must be an Indian national.
  • The students who are studying in 10th standard in an Indian school or a school abroad are also eligible to apply for NTSE. The Indian applicants studying abroad can directly appear for NTSE stage II.
  • The students must have scored a minimum of 60% or equivalent grade in every academic year.
  • The upper age limitation is 18 years for NTSE Stage I examination for both Indian applicants and Indian students studying abroad.

How to apply for NTSE?

There are three ways to apply for National Talent Search Examination. The students can choose any one of these options as per their comfort and priority for the NTSE application.

Application through School

The students are introduced to NTSE at their respective schools. The school takes the responsibility for the application form of NTSE. The schools distribute the application forms and also guide the students in filling up the forms. After this, the schools submit the forms to the Liaison’s office.

Application through Liaison Office

The application forms can also be obtained from the Liaison Office at the respective states or Union Territories. You have to fill the form and submit it at the Liaison’s Office on or before the due date.

Application through Online mode

In the online process, the candidates have to visit the official website and click on “Apply for National Talent Search Examination”. You can download the application form by visiting the official website. Fill up the form completely entering all genuine details. After that, you also have to get the signature of your school principal.

Make sure you pay the application fee in cash in name of the State Liaison Office (the fee may vary from state to state). At last, the application form has to be submitted to the respective Liaison Office.

Examination Pattern of NTSE

The students can go through the examination pattern of NTSE to get an idea about the exam. It will help you to plan your studies accordingly for the exam.

  • It is an offline examination, hence the students will be provided an OMR sheet to mark the answers.
  • The examination will be scheduled in two stages- Stage I and Stage II.
  • Stage I is a state-level examination that will be conducted by the respective states and union territories, whereas stage II is a national-level examination that will be conducted by NCERT.
  • The qualified students of Stage I will be allowed to attempt the Stage II exam.
  • However, the Indian Nationals who are studying abroad will be exempted from the Stage I exam.
  • The examination pattern is the same for Stage I and Stage II. Part I is Mental Ability Test, whereas Part II is Scholastic Aptitude Test.
  • Part I tests the analytical, logical, and visualizing abilities of a student. On the other hand, Part II covers questions from Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
  • Each section consists of 100 questions of MC type.

Examination Syllabus of NTSE

There will be three subjects in the examination- Science, Mathematics and Social Science. There is no particular syllabus for NTSE prescribed by NCERT. However, the questions will be based on 9th and 10th standard levels. Hence, you need to focus on the syllabus which you have already studied in 9th and 10th standards.
